Community-led Conservation

Empowering Local Voices: Piku’s Strategy to Community-led Conservation

Papua New Guinea’s unique biodiversity thrives alongside vibrant cultures, deeply connected to the natural world. Recognizing this, Piku Biodiversity Network prioritizes community-led conservation. We believe lasting solutions lie in refining and empowering responsible local ownership of their environment.

Beyond raising awareness, we equip communities to participate in decision-making and resource management. This fosters a sense of ownership and empowers communities to become stewards of their natural resources.

Piku champions nature-based solutions. By fostering collaboration between communities, scientists, and policymakers, we develop innovative solutions for both local and global environmental challenges. This ensures culturally sensitive and sustainable conservation for a thriving future.
